![]() After 6 months travelling around Australia and New Zealand, is very difficult for me to choose just a few tips because there were so many wonderful people, places, and magic moments, but here you have the vagamundos 2.0 awards: Country 1.- New Zealand, the land of "The lord of the rings" 2.- Tasmania (is not a country, but is so different from mainland, that I have to choose them) 3.- Australia, really big and empty PERSON 1.- John, from YHA Launceston, Tasmania, por taking care 2.- Stocky, our South West Coast Tour leader in Tasmania, for carrying a 40 kg. backpack during 9 days with mud up to the knees, and keeping the smile. 3.- Steve, Kakadu´s tour leader, for his deep knowledge about aboriginal culture MOMENT 1.- Finishing the South West Coast Track in Tasmania, after 9 días and 100 km. inside the mud, I met my friend Jonathan Livingstone Seagull 2.- Doubtful Sound, Nueva Zelanda, where I could "listen to the silence" y saw dolphins jumping and playing with us. 3.- My first encounter with a kangoroo, in Bateman´s Bay PLACE 1.- Fiorland, in New Zealand 2.- Karijini, Australia, beautiful gorges and rush of adrenaline 3.- Purnuluru, Australia, so amazing is hard to believe it exists CITY 1.- Perth, Australia, a great city with a perfect climate, no traffic jams and no stress. 2.- Sydney, Australia, a beautiful city despite the fact there are already taffic jams and stress. 3.- Hobart, Tasmania´s capital, for the histoy and the people´s friendlyness Small Town 1.- Paihia, north coast in New Zealand, fishing town, relaxed and quite. 2.- Launceston, Tasmania, a small city or a big small town 3.- Broome, half way between Perth and Darwin, and thousand miles from real world LODGING 1.- YHA in Launceston, Tasmania, where John makes you feel at home. 2.- YHA in Kaikoura, New Zealand, the sea at your door, and the whales very near. 3.- Nomad´s Backpacker in Perth, close to the center, away from trouble. CYBERCAFÉ 1.- Salamanca Place in Hobart, Tasmania, a fisherman´s cyber 2.- Didjworld, Darwin, Australia, fast as the wind, with 19" screens 3.- Outback Travel Shop, Alice Springs, Australia, friendly people and free coffee RESTAURANT 1.- Kata Restaurant, Launceston, Tasmania, a good, nice and cheap japanese restaurante. 2.- The bar in Narooma harbor, very cheap fish and shellfish. 3.- Restaurant Viet, in Melbourne, first quality from Vietnam. BEACH 1.- Shell Beach, in Australia, 20 km and millions shells 2.- Abel Tasman N.P., Nelson, New Zealand, wonderful beaches and forest 3.- P.N. Cape Le Grand, Australia, the whitest sand I´ve seen in my life. ACTIVITY 1.- Walking South Coast in Tasmania, World Heritage 2.- Walking and Kayaking Abel Tasman N.P., New Zealand 3.- Walking the Olgas, Australia, with no people around AGENCY 1.- Adventure Tours, Australia, for the best guides, vehicles, itinerary, equipment and customers. 2.- Tasmanian Expeditions, for being friendly, nice and very, very, profesional. 3.- Magic Bus, New Zealand, the best way to travel around the country, cheap, flexible and convenient. TRANSPORT 1.- 4x4 truck in Purnuluru, one of the most isolated areas in Australia. 2.- Kayak, to visit Abel Tasman N.P, with the calm waters and the wonderful beaches. 3.- Sydney ferries, the best way to know Sydney harbor and sorroundings. ANTIVAGAMUNDOS AWARD 1.- Let´s Trek Australia, an agency that doesn´t keep the promises and doesn´t take care of customers. 2.- YHA, Georgetown, New Zealand, for ignoring my complains after being robbed. 3.- Première buses, Australia, for keeping us 6 hours blocked on the road because a bush fire, and not offering even a coffee ANIMAL 1.- Kangoroo, one of the more fascinating animals in the world 2.- Wonbat, a marsupial that is like a baby. 3.- Kiwi, symbol of New Zealand, a nocturnal animal. This virtual awards reflects 6 months of amazing experiences in Australia and New Zealand.
